Japanese people and crying?

Do Japanese people think crying is weird? The reason I ask is because I just had a farewell party at the hospital I have been working at for the past year and I got very emotional (because I'm terrible at saying goodbye) and started to cry. They were also very nice about it, of course, but now I'm worried they think I'm a weirdo.
