Was the Missouri State Seal stolen?

I visited the Missouri State Capitol once on a field trip and remember speaking to whom I believe was the istant to the istant of the Secretary of State. She went into details and I remember her saying the seal was once stolen by a governor. I was wondering who the governor was so I can put the information in a paper I am writing. Can anyone remember who this is, or am I simply remembering the conversation incorrectly?
