Coughing for over 5 weeks age 55?

little over 5 weeks and growing bad to worse and at times hard to stop. Lost a very nice job due to it. I don't smoke drink or do drugs . hard to talk without coughing ... for the last year i had to deal with 2th hand smoke due to places i go and work . bronchitis ? back of my throat is a little tingle . now running a fever last 2 days..
