Why has the quality of music gone downhill so much, and why do people like it?

For those of us in the BICYCLE section the best music is the sound of a well tuned derailleur shifting, the ping of properly tensioned spokes, the wind whistling by or my favorite the small explosions you hear as you p a rider on a steep climb as he blows up.
